An overview of this role

The Security Identity Engineering team  partners closely with every corner of the business to help build, manage, optimize and secure Gitlab’s identity and access management framework and program at Gitlab.

We are responsible for services that the majority of our team members use daily, including Okta and Google, and providing last mile automation through custom services, where sensible.

As our new Security Engineer, you will join a high performing team of Engineers helping to lead us into a future of delightful-but-secure experiences. You will draw from your years of experience participating in toil-some efforts such as onboarding/offboarding, access ticket fulfillment, audit q&a and technical troubleshooting to muster up the incentive to do things the “right” way.  Take a peek at what we’re brainstorming here.

What you’ll do

  • Design, implement and maintain cloud-based corporate IAM systems
  • Administration of SaaS apps such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack and 1Password
  • Build automations using a mix of code, low-code, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Monitor and audit access periodically for compliance purposes
  • Troubleshoot technical issues as an escalation point
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, threats, and technologies in the IAM space

What you’ll bring

  • Experience with user lifecycle management
  • Experience with Okta administration
  • Experience integrating services with Slack
  • Experience with using iPaaS technologies (Okta Workflows, Workato, Tines)
  • Interest in working with REST APIs to develop event-driven automation
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of working collaboratively in a fully remote, globally distributed team
