Driving Upwork's Growth through the expansion and optimization of emerging channels

Your leadership will involve a deep understanding of channel dynamics and the transformation of these channels into significant contributors to the company's growth objectives. You will work closely with the Brand, Creative, Integrated Marketing, and Marketing Analytics teams. Moreover, your role will require leading our collaboration with media agencies to optimize and maximize the performance of our campaigns.

This position, reporting to the Director of Paid Acquisition, demands a proactive approach, strategic insight, and a commitment to driving results that surpass our growth ambitions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development & Execution: I lead the strategy and execution of video and offline channels, ensuring alignment with our ambitious growth goals and efficient budget use.

  • Data-Driven Analysis & Decision Making: Dive deep into channel performance, utilize incrementality testing, and harness the power of the Media Mix Model to steer campaigns and decide on future investments.

  • Agency Partnership Management: Foster and lead the relationship with our media agency, ensuring smooth collaboration, efficient campaign planning, execution, measurement, and optimization.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with the Brand, Creative, and Product Marketing teams to develop cohesive and effective campaigns, ensuring alignment across all touchpoints.

  • Budget Oversight & Management: You will be responsible for forecasting, tracking, and optimizing media budgets. You will ensure that investment pacing aligns with performance goals and growth projections, adjusting as necessary to achieve maximum ROI.

  • Innovation and Channel Growth: Champion a test-and-learn agenda to continuously refine and optimize existing tactics while pioneering new channels and strategies; Focus on opportunities to scale and increase profitability through media expansion.

  • Agency Collaboration Skills: Track record of effectively managing and optimizing relationships with media agencies, ensuring campaigns are executed seamlessly and efficiently.

  • Ambitious Drive & Organizational Skills: A continuous hunger for improvement, always pushing boundaries and setting higher benchmarks. Your strong organizational and project planning skills will be key in managing multiple initiatives.

  • Process Excellence and High Standards: Experience setting high standards, building and defining processes, and maintaining a relentless bias towards action to achieve marketing excellence.

  • Intellectual Curiosity: Demonstrated ability to apply business knowledge to marketing problems.  Strategic marketer who is intellectually curious, proactive, and collaborative

  • Executive Presence: Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, effectively articulating complex strategies and results to a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Self-Motivation and Independence: Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, thriving as a remote contributor with a strong sense of accountability and minimal supervision.

The annual base salary range for this position  is displayed below. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.
